Spending on home and project storm-related repairs help boost net income third quarter Home Depot Inc. 's 12 percent, home-improvement retailer said Tuesday.
Goods home sellers face a careful consumer spending and a weak housing market. Atlanta-based Home Depot Inc. 's smaller rival Lowe's Cos. reported Tuesday third quarter net profit falls 44 percent on restructuring costs.
But Home Depot fared better. The results beat expectations and raised its earnings outlook and a dividend in 2011.
Net income of home-improvement retailer no.1 AS rose 12 percent to $ 934 million, or 60 cents per share. That compares with $ 834 million, or 51 cents per share, last year.
